I’m the face behind Captured by Courtney, based in Holly Springs, NC.
I bought my first DSLR camera when I was around 18 years old, and ever since then I dreamed of becoming a family photographer… it just took me a little while (and a whole lot of life) to finally go for it.
Funny enough, for 15+ years I’ve had a piece of artwork hanging in my house that says: “When I grow up I want to be a photographer or an octopus.” 😂
Spoiler alert: I eventually chose photography.
On my birthday back in 2025 — which also happened to fall on Mother’s Day — I had this thought: “What would happen if I actually went for it?”
So I did.
I started my business by asking for volunteer families to meet me at the park, and honestly… I’ll forever be grateful for those first families who believed in me because WOW.
What started as a creative outlet quickly turned into something so much bigger than I imagined. I’ve met incredible people, connected with amazing families, rediscovered my creative side, and built something that genuinely makes me excited to work every day.
Watching my own kids grow way too fast is honestly what pushed me to finally start this business. I wanted to help families freeze a little piece of these seasons before they change again.
